Gotta Like Mike!

New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg seems to understand the major impact that breastfeeding can have not only mother and child, but an entire community. According to the New York Post, Bloomberg and the NYC Health Department are teaming up to launch a $2 mil+ campaign designed to encourage NYC mums (and dads) to choose to breastfeed. If done correctly, this could certainly trickle down to make an incredible change in the city and make an impact in social and cultural classes. NYC will also be following Portland, Oregon's lead in banning formula freebie bags in hospitals. Freebie bags send the message to moms that formula is OK, and have shown to lower breastfeeding rates and increase brand loyalty.

Kudos to Bloomberg and his staff for implementing such a worthwhile campaign!
