Mad About Mama Milk Monday

Starting today, every Monday post will unofficially officially be Mad About Mama Milk Monday!  Each Mad About Mama Milk Monday will have something to do with the natural art of breastfeeding.

Be sure to check back every Monday (and more often)
for a healthy dose of information regarding liquid gold.

Meet Hathor the Cow Goddess... She's a Lactivist, a Cow, a Health Educator, a Goddess!

The cartoon sums up how amazing the human body was created.

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Psalm 139:14

This verse speaks about the incredible nature of our physical bodies. The human body is the most complex and unique organism in the world, and that complexity and uniqueness speaks
volumes about its Creator-- God.

Since my pregnancy with B I have discovered and been reminded time and time again of our Creator's wisdom, intelligence and creativity in creating the human body!  Examples are countless... from the miracle of conception, to the wonder of childbirth, from life's first breath to the impressive importance of breastfeeding.  All reveal that each person has been fearfully and wonderfully made.

The function of the breast! Milk ducts, areola, supply and demand, hind and fore milk...Amazing!

Breastfeeding was perfectly conceptualized!

  • Easily digestible- Breast-fed babies absorb nearly 100% of protein in human milk, which also means less or no constipation for baby

  • Causes uterine contraction following birth, which helps the uterus return to its normal size

  • Reduces chance of getting breast and ovarian cancers for the nursing mama

  • Reduces cancer odds for baby later in life

  • Provides the perfect nutrition for baby

  • Perfect combination of milk protein and fat to help baby grow-physically and developmentally

  • Perfect temperature

  • Always accessible

And the list could go on for ages!
