Mad About Mama Milk Monday: Relactating in Haiti

It has been nearly five months since the devestating earthquake ocurred in Haiti on January 12, 2010.  Check out this article of a nurse's account on maternal and infant care, including breastfeeding successes and myths in the Haitian cultural.  Myths including belief that breastmilk goes bad after a mother experiences an emotional shock, and successes on relactation.

Hats off to the US Agency for International Development's (USAID) Infant and Young Child Nutrition (IYCN) Project for their work to improve nutrition for mothers, infants and young children and prevent the transmission of HIV to lil ones.

Celebrating the power of Mama Milk around the Globe... Happy Nursing Mamas!
