The best laid plans...

So what began as a disappointing morning filled with pure defiance and disobedience turned into a pretty productive and enjoyable day (post nap time!).

Our morning had planned to go as follows:  Breakfast with Brett, and then off to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History with my girlfriend and her boys, lunch in the car on the way home and nap time...  What actually happened included lots of disobedience, defiance, yelling and tears, which led to me canceling the outing planned with our friends.  Robert Burns was right... "The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray."

One thing that is clear-- punishment for children is usually doubly sucky for the parents!  So off we went as a family to run errands, rather than exploring dinosaur fossils and playing with friends.  It was a very rough morning.  Rough seems to have become a common theme around here lately.  Oy parenthood can be so challenging, but I know the payoff far outweighs the hard times.

The bright spots of the day included:
  • Hugs and kisses from the kiddos and Brett
  • A lovely little package from the UPS man... filled with the wonder of Sephora
  • A Northern Lite from Caribou- one for me and one for Brett
  • Eating WILD ALASKAN SALMON for dinner.  Delish!
Now I'm off to do Yoga X... Bring it on P90x!
